Silicone sealants are produced by oxin-curing a conventional sealant formulation comprising a filler, plasticizer, adhesion promoter, crosslinker, and cure catalyst, until an ideal rheological and mechanical strength is achieved. Silica soot waste from quartz glass production is used as the reinforcing filler and rheological properties agent instead of conventional pyrogenic silica. An Independent claim is also included for the use of a waste fraction comprising silica soot from the production of quartz glass as a viscosity control and/or thixotropy agent by mixture with water in a weight ratio of 1:1, as a substitute for fumed silica in industrial processes, as a substitute for precipitated silica in industrial processes, and as a substitute for calcium carbonate as a filler material in polysulfide rubber sealants. |
