The invention relates to a vending apparatus (100) which is adapted for the sale of digital information to a buyer. The apparatus (100) may be a coin-operated vending machine adapted for the sale of information that may be downloaded to a mobile phone. The apparatus comprises means (3, 7) for displaying the information intended for sale, input means (2) for selecting the information intended for sale, and means (8) for forwarding the selected information to a mobile phone. The apparatus further comprises a cash rec eiver unit (1) for the remittance of the value of the sold information, and input means (2, 5) for configuring the information intended for sale with the assistance of the buyer.
