摘要 A crucible for melting a rare earth element alloy containing&comma; as primary cpmponents&comma; one or more selected from rare earth element oxides including Y<sb>2</sb>O<sb>3</sb> and at least one of Al<sb>2</sb>O<sb>3 </sb>and Al<sb>2</sb>TiO<sb>5</sb>&comma; characterized in that it is prepared trough the firing at 500 to 1800&deg;C in the case of that containing no Al<sb>2</sb>TiO<sb>5</sb> or at 1000 to 1700&deg;C in the case of that containing no Al<sb>2</sb>TiO<sb>5</sb>&comma; that the rare earth element oxide is distributed in a finer part of a material for the firing having a particle diameter of 0&period;5 mm or less in a percentage higher than that of a coarser part of the material having a particle diameter of greater than 0&period;5 mm&comma; and that it contains substantially no reaction products of the above rare earth element oxide with the at least one of Al<sb>2</sb>O<sb>3 </sb>and Al<sb>2</sb>TiO<sb>5</sb>&semi; and a rare earth element alloy produced by the use of the crucible&period;
