SUBCUTANEOUS INJECTION SET TUBING WITH SOLVENT BONDING

The infusion set (1) comprises of a connecting tube (1) of polyethylene which is treated to form a wetable surface or treated with a primer (3) and then bonded to a PVC hub (95) by using solvent adhesive (60) to solvent bond the low density polyethylene tubing (1) or Teflon tubing (1) to a PVC hub (95). The surface treatment methods include a methane plasma surface that is applied to tubing (1) in a continuous manner and alternatively a primer (3) that is applied locally and dried prior to applying the adhesive (60). Both techniques form a strong and resilient bond for the infusion needle (5) and tube (1) when assembled to the PVC hubs (95).
