An elastic member (10) is disposed between a shoe (108) and the bridge portion (100-3) of a caliper housing (100) for exerting a sustained elastic force between the shoe and the bridge portion. A piston (102) accommodated within the caliper housing moves in response to an external hydraulic pressure. The shoe cooperates with the piston to press a disc via the piston. A mounting bracket (106) slidably supports the caliper housing along guide pins.
