PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel supply pump having a means for solving the problem that liquid pressure applied to an intake valve is increased when operating at a high speed and the intake valve is automatically closed to make volume control impossible in a fuel pump for controlling a discharge quantity by controlling the valve closing timing of the intake valve. SOLUTION: An actuator 8 having an engagement member engaged with the intake valve 5 is housed in a control chamber 9, and the actuator 8 is operated by selectively switching pressure inside the control chamber 9 to high pressure or low pressure to open/close the intake valve 5. Volume control in a high speed operating condition is thereby enabled, and the swept volume of the pump can be increased. |
