PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet position detection device manufacturable at a low cost with a simple structure, capable of being miniaturized, and allowing easy sensor position adjustment work. SOLUTION: This detection device has a pair of sensor hold bodies 41, 51. One sensor hold body 41 is installed with a light emitting element 45 and a first light receiving element 46, while the other sensor hold body 51 is installed with a second light receiving element 55. The respective sensor hold bodies 41, 51 are provided in a direction perpendicular to a sheet feeding direction slidably independently of each other. The respective sensor hold bodies 41, 51 are freely slidable relatively to respectively independently provided guide means 42, 52 with directly or indirectly generating friction resistance by energizing force of elastic members 47, 57.
