CURING METHOD FOR UNSATURATED POLYESTER RESIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curing method in which the odor of a cured unsaturated polyester resin is reduced. SOLUTION: A liquid unsaturated polyester resin (C) which is prepared by dissolving, in styrene (B), an unsaturated polyester (A) prepared by the polycondensation of a polyhydric alcohol component mainly comprising a glycol with anα,β-unsaturated dibasic acid and/or its anhydride and optionally a saturated dibasic acid and/or its anhydride is cured by using a peroxy ester (D) represented by formula (1) (wherein R1 is a 1-9C alkyl; and R2 is a 1-9C alkyl or a substituted phenyl) and an organic acid salt of cobalt (E) as a curing agent and an accelerator, respectively. The liquid unsaturated polyester resin (C) of 100 pts.wt. is mixed with 1-3 pts.wt. curing agent (D) and 6-60 ppm organic acid salt of cobalt and cured at 80-120 deg.C for at least 5 min.
