PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor having excellent CO selectivity, stably usable for a long period of time and considerably reducing power consumption. SOLUTION: A first electrode 12 and a second electrode 13 formed of perovskite type double oxide of different compositions are formed on the surface of an oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte substrate 11. The gas sensor with excellent CO selectivity without an oxidation catalyst can thereby be obtained using the difference of sensitivity, and the operating temperature is considerably reduced. The sensor is formed of a thin film on a heat resistant and low heat conductive substrate 18 to considerably reduce heat capacity and to allow operation based on a battery power source by driving in pulse. Further, a thin film layer 21 and a porous plate 22 formed on the electrode reduce the influence of inflammable gas, moisture and poisoning gas to allow stable use for a long period of time. |
