PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terminal device for reading a map file which eliminates the need to update map files of an adjacent unit when one file is updated. SOLUTION: A map file representing each of units obtained by dividing a map into a plurality of areas includes a node record generated for each node and a link record generated for each node. In a specified node record, coordinate information on an adjacent node is recorded which prescribes the connection relation on a rod between a unit and its adjacent unit is recorded. The map file is stored in a 1st storage device 19. A data processing part 13 performs processing for searching a route by using the map file. The data processing part 13 traces a connection from a road in one unit to a road in the other adjacent unit according to the coordinate information that one unit and the adjacent node of the other adjacent have during the route searching processing.
