PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder allowing arbitrary setting for detecting the overlapped feeding with avoiding a strip-like longitudinal line or strip-like printing in a document even if the strip-like longitudinal line or printing is present in a position corresponding to an overlapped feeding detection range, and capable of detecting the overlapped feeding without false detection. SOLUTION: In this paper feeder, a moving body 25 mounted with a light emitting sensor 6a and a moving body 26 mounted with a light receiving sensor 6b are respectively held by shafts 23, 24 between a front plate 21 and a rear plate 22 movably in a main scanning direction of the document 2. The moving bodies 25, 26 are respectively fixed to a wire 28 hung and wound between pulleys 27 disposed in a plurality of positions, and are interlockingly movable to the same direction.
