PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a collapsible-barrel type imaging device, whose lens barrel is collapsible into a device body, not collapse the lens barrel intentionally as occassion demands even when the power soured is turned off. SOLUTION: The device is equipped with a key input part 48 having a power key 14 which is operable to turn on and off the power source and a standby key 18 which instructs the imaging device to be in a power-off state wherein a lens optical system 32 constituting a lens barrier 13 is not collapsed into the device body, a lens position memory 43a which stores and holds the driving positions of respective lenses constituting the lens optical system 32 at the time when the instruction was given with the standby key 18 regardless of turning-on or turning-off of power source, and a control part 43 which turns off the power source without collapsing the lens barrier 13 in response to the operation of the standby key 18 and confirms the driving positions of the respective lenses of the lens optical system 32 or performs movement control according to the driving positions stored and held in the lens position memory 43a when the power source is turned on with the power key 14.
