METHOD FOR CORRECTING INK EJECTION ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for correcting an ink ejection element operating erroneously in one pass print mode or a nonoperable ink ejection element. SOLUTION: Standard print mask of a print mode being employed is acquired (step 140) and an ink ejection element operating erroneously is identified (step 142). An adjacent ink ejection element is then confirmed (step 144) and an adjacent ink ejection element most suitable for the ink ejection element operating erroneously is selected thus compensating for the ink ejection element operating erroneously (step 146). The ink ejection element operating erroneously is then compensated by adjusting the output from a selected adjacent ink ejection element for each pixel thereby correcting the print mask (step 148).
