PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the sheet drying device of a printing press capable of recovering ozone even immediately after a UV lamp is lighted. SOLUTION: A UV lamp type drying device 1 is arranged above the triple- size transfer cylinder 6 provided at the intermediate position between coater units 3a and 3b and an exhaust device 8 is provided under the running sheet of the triple-size transfer cylinder 6. The suction box 9 of the exhaust device 8 is connected to a suction machine 12 through piping 10 and a control valve 11. A control unit 13 can control the operations of all of the drying device 1, a control valve 11 and the suction machine 12. The drying device 1 is preheated and the printing press is idly driven. Further, the suction machine 12 is operated to reduce the air pressure in the suction box 9 and ozone generated from the UV lamp of the drying device 1 can be sucked by the negative pressure in the suction box. Printing is started after a temperature rise while the suction machine 12 is stopped.
