PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holder for light-transmissive medium for preventing the deterioration of an optical characteristic and the deterioration of connection efficiency by holding the light-transmissive medium so as not to bring the inner wall surface of a holder into contact with the light-transmissive medium as far as possible to maintain the original characteristic of the light-transmissive medium and also protecting a connection part of an end face of the light- transmissive medium and an end face of an optical fiber from an external factor such as a stain of dust, dirt or the like and moisture in fixing the light- transmissive medium to the holder. SOLUTION: The light-transmissive medium 30 is held so as to form an air layer 8 around each face of the light-transmissive medium 30, a fitting part 11 for bringing the end fades of optical fibers 5 into close contact with the end face of the light-transmissive medium 30 by fitting an optical connector 2 holding one, two, or more optical fibers 5, 5 is also provided at both end parts of the holder 1 for a light-transmissive medium, and a sealing member 15 is arranged at a prescribed part of the fitting part 11 coming into contact with the optical connector 2 and/or a prescribed part of the optical connector 2 coming into contact with the fitting part 11.
