A support device, 2, adapted for use as a stanchion for such articles as scaffolding, marquees, tents and the like, or a support leg for such items as tables, chairs, ironing boards, trestles, workbenches etc. The support device, 2 , when in a first operative position for use as a stanchion, has a support element, 6, which extends vertically upwards to be engaged by the article to be supported. In the second operative position for use as a support leg, the device is inverted, so that the support element, 6, extends vertically downwards, and the article to be supported engages with the base, 32. The whole device can fold flat, with the support element, 6, received within the channel, when the slide bar, 16, slots into the end of the cam tracks 20 and 22. |
