PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation detection device capable of being built in a small apparatus and capable of outputting an accurate rotation angle. SOLUTION: This rotation detection device has a magnetism generation means 4 in a rotation-side member 1, and also has a magnetic sensor array 6 and an angle computing means 7 for computing an angle from its sensor output on a non-rotation side member 2. The generation means 4 comprises a permanent magnet and the like and has anisotropy in the circumference direction around the rotation center O. The sensor array 6 is formed by disposing magnetic sensor elements in a matrix-like shape. The sensor array 6 and the computing means 7 are integrated into a semiconductor chip 8.
