HYDROGEN-REACTIVE ELEMENT, AND HYDROGEN DETECTOR USING IT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an element which reacts with hydrogen, and a hydrogen detector using the element. SOLUTION: A hydrogen-reactive element comprises a base material and a hydrogen-reactive film containing a hydrogen occlusion material formed on the surface of the base material. The surface of the hydrogen-reactive film forms a light receiving surface, and the degree of reflection and transmission of the irradiated light is changed by the occlusion and emission of hydrogen from the hydrogen occlusion material. The hydrogen detector includes a hydrogen-reactive element, a light source to irradiate the light on the hydrogen- reactive element, and a photo detector which detects at least one of the reflected light reflected by the hydrogen-reactive element out of the light irradiated from the light source and the transmitted light transmitted through the hydrogen-reactive element.
