PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high performance wax emulsion excellent in dilution stability, preservation stability (storage stability), miscibility with alcohol, generating little separation, viscosity increase and the like and mild to the environment without using a surfactant for emulsifying the wax. SOLUTION: This method for producing a soap-free wax emulsion is to (1) roughly emulsify a composition containing (a) an oxidized wax and (b) a basic compound as essential ingredients by a phase transfer method, (2) homogeneously disperse the mixture by a high speed agitator (homomixer), subsequently (3) micronize the wax by a high pressure homogenizer (homogenizer) having >=100 kg/cm<2> pressure.
