Method for determining the position of an object using images with a local resolution

Navigation method for assisting a surgeon during an operation in which a first reference image is generated using computer tomography or magnetic resonance prior to the operation. During an operation an area of interest is imaged ultrasonically. A coordinate transformation is created linking the images. The position of an object in further images representing further situations can then be seen.
