PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a compound useful as a therapeutic and preventive agent for central diseases such as anxiety-relating diseases, depression, epilepsy and the like, selectively acting on BZω3 receptor. SOLUTION: This 2-arylpurine-9-acetamide derivative is the one expressed by formula (I) (wherein R<1> expresses a lower alkyl, a cycloalkyl, a cycloalkyl(lower)alkyl or the like; R<2> expresses a lower alkyl, an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl or the like; R<3> expresses H or the like; R<4> expresses H, a lower alkyl, a cycloalkyl, a halogen, a lower alkoxy or the like; (A) expresses an unsubstituted or substituted phenyl or the like; W expresses H, a lower alkyl, a halogen, a lower alkoxy, a lower alkylthio, a lower alkanoyl or the like), or pharmacologically acceptable acid adduct salts thereof.
