PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a back type work machine capable of relieving suffering of workers due to hot air even slightly. SOLUTION: This back type work machine has an engine (1), a shouldering frame (2) rotatably supporting the engine (1), which is laterally arranged with a cylinder head (1a) rearward around a front and rear direction shaft (X), and a flexible shaft (3) connected with an output shaft (1b) of the engine (1). Thereby, such a back type work machine that relieves suffering of the workers due to hot air even slightly is obtained.
