PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a duplex stainless steel sheet consisting of a ferritic phase and an austenitic phase, and having excellent workability and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: When manufacturing the duplex stainless steel sheet consisting of the ferritic phase and the austenitic phase, hot rolling and hot-rolled-plate annealing are carried out while regulating slab-heating temperature and hot- rolled-plate-annealing temperature to values at which the proportion of the ferritic phase becomes 70 to 95%, and successively, cold rolling and cold-rolled- sheet annealing are performed. By this procedure, the ferritic-phase X-ray intensity ratio 100}/ 111} in the sheet-thickness central region of a product sheet is made to <=2.
