PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning method reducing a burden on an operator in cleaning of a cleaning-needing member in a card reader, and automatically executing the cleaning. SOLUTION: The card reader 2 is provided with carrying rollers 7a, 7b, 7c for carrying a card; magnetic heads 11, 12 executing the magnetic recording or the magnetic reading; detection sensors 13a-13f for detecting the card; and a forcible discharge member 15 for discharging the carrying-impossible card. When cleaning the carrying rollers 7a, 7b, 7c, the discharge member 15 is projected onto a carrying path 4, a cleaning card 1 is abutted on the discharge member 15, and the carrying rollers 7a, 7b, 7c are rotated in that state to execute the cleaning. The magnetic heads 11, 12 and the detection sensors 13a-13f are cleaned by carrying the cleaning card 1. |
