PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilization method which is safe in view of environment, less expensive in view of expenditure in facility cost and capable of attaining a high sterilization effect in an efficient manner. SOLUTION: A method for sterilizing an item to be sterilized composed of a food packaging material or a container manufactured by this food packaging material includes a production step in which over-heated water vapor is generated; a contact step for contacting the over-heated water vapor generated at the production step with the item to be sterilized; and an irradiation step in which the item to be sterilized in irradiated with ultra-violet rays before performing the contact step and/or after performing the contact step. |
