PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head protecting air bag device capable of stabilizing the development and expansion of the air bag in the vicinity of a pillar part. SOLUTION: This head protecting air bag device M has an air bag 20 straddling the upper part of a pillar garnish 4 and housed in an air bag cover 13. The upper end 5a of the garnish 4 is displaced to the inside I of a vehicle from the upper edge sides of windows W1.W2. The air bag 20 has a general part 32 on the upper edge side of the window, a displacement part 33 disposed closer to the inside I of the vehicle than the general part 32, and an intermediate part 34 between the general part 32 and the displacement part 33. The cover 13 has a general cover part 14 and a displacement cover part 15 that cover the inside of the vehicle and the lower side of the general part 32 the displacement part 33, and an intermediate cover part 16 that covers the inside of the vehicle and the lower side including the outside O of the vehicle below the intermediate part 34. The development and expansion to the outside O of the intermediate part 34 of the air bag is regulated by a regulating member 38.
