摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element microfabrication method capable of preventing the processing accuracy of each manufacturing process of a base material from being reduced by accurately recognizing the position of the base material and capable of easily recognizing the position, and to provide a base material manufacturing method and the base material. SOLUTION: The base material manufacturing method for manufacturing the base material by machining it by a machine device has a process for forming a specific shape on the base material by relatively moving a cutting tool of the machine device for machining the base material to the machined surface of the base material held by a rotating/holding member for rotating/ holding the base material and a process for forming a 1st position regonition part to be a reference for position recognition on the base material in a state that a rotation center axis for rotating the base material held on the rotating/ holding member is not moved after forming the specific shape on the base material. Since the rotation center position of the base material can be easily calculated by the 1st position recognition part, axial slippage can be prevented and the marching accuracy of each manufacturing constitution can be improved.
