PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the lack of fuel when braking by utilizing excessive fuel, to simplify piping and sealing at the periphery of a fuel tank, and to aim at the miniaturization. SOLUTION: This fuel pump unit, which is provided with a fuel pump 8, a filter cartridge 27 to be connected to a lower inlet port 26 of the fuel pump 8, and a pressure regulator 10 in the upper side of a fitting cover plate 6, is inserted into a fuel tank 1 through a bottom surface opening 3 of the fuel tank 1 and fixed to the bottom surface 1a. A hose 40 is connected to an excessive fuel discharge pipe 38 of the pressure regulator 10, and the hose 40 is extended downward to the filter cartridge 27, and the excessive fuel discharged from the pressure filter 10 is supplied to the filter cartridge 27. Desirably, a housing 41 for covering the filter cartride 27 is connected to the lower end of the hose 40 to improve excessive fuel supply efficiency.
