<p>A handheld computing device, such as a personal digital assistant (PDA), has speech-to-text functionality. The handheld computing device includes a receiver, such as an integrated cellular modem, capable of receiving voice communications. The voice communications are routed to a speech-to-text processor that converts the voice communications to text. The text is then displayed on the handheld computing device. The handheld computing device also includes a speaker for outputting the voice communications as audible speech to the user. Further, the handheld computing device may include an input/output device for inputting text and/or commands.
