PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the sliding resistance of a radial lip received from a tapered chamfer, and solve the problem of dead space or sealing performance derived when minimizing the chamfer angle. SOLUTION: This seal ring 3 to be integrated into the opposed annular space between an outer cylinder 1 and a shaft body 2 comprises main and auxiliary radial lips 3b and 3d formed on the inside of an annular core metal 3a toward the integrating directional upstream side and downstream side, respectively. The angle of the tapered chamfer is set smaller than the angle formed by a general end surface processing of shaft body, and the axial area is set larger than the area by the end surface processing. The main radial lip 3d and the auxiliary radial lip 3d are integrated and used in the state where the free end side of the main radial lip 3b is pressed to the side position of the chamfer on the circumferential surface with a prescribed fastening margin, and substantially the whole width of the inside surface of the auxiliary radial lip 3d is opposed to the most area of the tapered chamfer of the shaft body substantially in parallel through a minute clearance. |
