PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a displacement detecting device capable of detecting delivery displacement of a variable displacement type compressor in simple constitution in which types of applicable variable displacement compressors are not largely limited. SOLUTION: In a piston 25, a tapered surface 36a to be detected is formed in the direction of an axial line S of it. On the side of the piston 25, a contactless type position detecting sensor 51 is disposed to face the tapered surface 36a. The position detecting sensor 51 detects distance L to the tapered surface 36a (at a point K to be detected) which gets closer to/apart from it in accordance with change of the stroke of the piston 25. An air conditioner ECU 61 grasps the delivery displacement of the compressor based on detected distance information L from the position detecting sensor 51.
