PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is excellent in brightness and viewing angle property, whose thickness is reduced and in which the manufacturing cost and manufacturing process can be reduced, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A cholesteric liquid crystal color filter can be used and a circular polarizer can be utilized to improve the brightness of this liquid crystal display device, and however, in such a case, many films are needed to solve a wavelength problem of reflected light caused by an incidence angle of cholesteric liquid crystal. This results in problems of increasing the cost and making the display device thick. By utilizing a backlight and collimating film of a high collimating degree, a color inversion problem due to the viewing angle of the cholesteric liquid crystal is solved, and by using the circular polarizer and the cholesteric liquid crystal color filter, light transmittance is improved. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce its manufacturing process and save its cost by forming the collimating film and the circular polarizer on one substrate. |
