PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solenoid valve reducing the consumption of electric energy for holding valve opening and closing operations. SOLUTION: This solenoid valve 1 comprises an electromagnetic drive part S having a first fluid passage 20a for introducing a fluid, a second fluid passage 20b for introducing a fluid pressure from a fluid storage source 9, an electromagnetic coil 40, a stator iron core 40, and a movable element 60; a valve element 30 to be engaged with the movable element 60; and a valve seat 20c from and to which the valve element 30 is separated and contacted, and this valve is opened and closed by the separation and contact of the valve element 30 from and to the valve seat 20c to perform the communication and interruption between the first fluid passage 20a and the second fluid passage 20b. This solenoid valve further comprises a permanent magnet 80 provided on the stator iron core 50 and acting in the direction for enhancing the magnetic flux generated in the electromagnetic coil 40 in the valve closing operation by the current- carrying to the electromagnetic coil 40. The electromagnetic coil 40 is constituted so that the current-carrying direction is switchable, so that the current- carrying direction to the electromagnetic coil 40 is switched between the valve closing time and the valve opening time.
