PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a core wire for a driving belt having superior stability in size and flex fatigue resistance, and improved in belt strength retention and belt tensile force retention, and to provide the driving belt using the core wire. SOLUTION: In the toothed belt 1 composed of a belt body composed of plural tooth parts 2 formed along the belt longitudinal direction, and a back part 4 formed by spirally embedding the core wires 3 as a reinforcement core body on a belt pitch line of the belt body, and the base cloth 5 attached to a surface of the tooth parts 2, a twisted code formed by first-twisting a group of multifilaments of aramid fiber with a twisting coefficient of 0.3-0.7 to form a strand, and then bundling a plurality of strands and finally twisting them with a twisting coefficient of 1.5-2.5 in the direction same as the first twisting, is sued as the core wire 3, and the strand has the fineness of 1/20 through 1/8 of the twisted code.
