PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight deep hole excavator having a simple constitution, and capable of preventing turbulent winding of a rope regardless of a lifting speed of an excavating bucket. SOLUTION: The deep hole excavator 1 is constituted by connecting the excavating bucket 6 to the tip of the rope 37 derived from a guide means 5 arranged on the lower end of an arm 2 by constituting a rope winding mechanism 3 composed of the arm 2 rotatably connected to the tip of a freely derricking boom of a hydraulic excavator body, a bucket lifting cylinder 32 pivotally fixed to a cylinder support shaft 31 on the inside of this arm 2, first and second fixed sheaves 33 and 33', first and second movable sheaves 35 and 35' movably arranged on the tip of an expandable rod in the bucket lifting cylinder 32, and the rope 37 wound on these first and second fixed sheaves 33 and 33' and first and second movable sheaves 35 and 35'.
