COMPOSITE SLIDING MEMBER, AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite sliding member having excellent wear resistance, solid lubricity and oil adsorptivity. SOLUTION: In a composite material in which metal particles or intermetallic- compound particles are used as a matrix 19, the volume ratio of the metal particles is changed from a sliding surface 13 toward the inner part. The volume ratio of the metal particles is low in the vicinity of the sliding surface and increases with the approach to the inner part. Phases having characteristics of wear resistance, solid lubricity and oil adsorptivity superior to those of the metal particles are dispersed in the sliding surface 13.
