PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially and efficiently producing a polyvinylamine by which a (co)polymer of a high-molecular weight N- vinylcarboxamide is produced and then hydrolyzed to produce the polyvinylamine. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polymer comprising a vinylamine unit comprises hydrolyzing the polymer comprising the N-vinylcarboxamide as a main monomer unit. In the method, the polymer comprising the N- vinylcarboxamide as the main monomer unit is obtained by photopolymerization.
