PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a web presser with a compact structure and a web winding method, capable of pressing the peripheral face of a web roll without impairing quality of a web, preventing the slack of the web to reduce a paper loss, and stopping rotation of the web roll. SOLUTION: In web winding equipment winding the web W traveling through a reel drum 12 as the web roll R, the web presser 20 pressing the peripheral face of the web roll R wherein the winding of the web W is completed comprises a pressing part 40 having a pressing belt 43 wound between a pair of rollers 42A, 42B having rotary shafts parallel to a reel spool 16, and a pressing part operation mechanism 30 bringing the pressing part 40 close to the web roll R and separating the pressing part 40 from the web roll R. When bringing the pressing part 40 close to the web roll R, a portion between the rollers 42A, 42B in the pressing belt 43 is pressed onto the peripheral face of the web roll R.
