The device has upper and lower housing parts (1,4) and a detector that initiates a roller drive mechanism for cloths (T) with perforated separating lines (P) in a cassette (21). The lower housing part has at least one cassette holder and transport roller (11). The upper housing part has a drive mechanism with an electric motor (M) and gearbox. Portions are dispensed so the dividing line is in front of the rollers (11,30) but inside the dispenser. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of operating at least one dispenser of cleaning cloths.
