An RJ jack 58 includes a first housing 12 having bottom, side, rear and top walls 13,14,19 defining an interior chamber 17 and an opening 18 through the front wall 16 through which a plug (not shown) may be received into the interior chamber 17. A plurality of contact fingers 31 extend from beneath the bottom wall 19 to and over the front wall 16 and into the interior chamber 17, the spacing between the contact fingers 31 in the interior chamber 17 is equal to the spacing of corresponding contacts in the plug with the spacing of the contact fingers 31 extending beneath the bottom wall 19 being greater. A second housing 22 is removably secured to the rear wall 14 of the first housing 12, the second housing 22 containing a plurality of magnetic elements 23.
