PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque detector by which a load of a steering shaft is detected directly, whose displacement in the load is small, whose operation feeling and operation response are satisfactory and by which a rotation torque can be detected accurately without being influenced by gravity and a road- surface quake. SOLUTION: When a handle is operated, an upper steering shaft 3a which has divided the steering shaft is turned, a pressure part 3c is turned due to the rotation of the shaft 3a, and a first part 13c to be pressed and a first magnetostrictive sensor 13a are pressed against a first spring 15a. The first part 13c to be pressed is warped, and a change in magnetism is generated in the first part 13c to be pressed according to its warp. The change in magnetism is detected as the rotation torque of the shaft 3a by a magnetic coil constituting the sensor 13a. |
