PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device where the leakage of a liquid crystal material or entering of external gas are prevented even when a part divided by bubbles is formed at a first sealing material. SOLUTION: After forming the sealing material so as to surround an effective display area (a) on a substrate 1, another substrate 1 is stuck to it and the liquid crystal material is poured between the substrates 1. In the method for manufacturing the liquid crystal display device constituted like this, before sticking together the substrates 1, the first sealing material 2 surrounding the effective display area (a) and a second sealing material 3 (4) of the shape of an island at an edge part positioned outside of the first sealing material 2 are formed.
