PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric compressor capable of securing reliability of a motor part without having limitation to a mounting attitude to a vehicle while achieving low cost, and an air conditioner for a vehicle using that. SOLUTION: In this electric compressor, a compressor part 220 is installed at a prescribed part in an attitude to be on the underside of the motor part 210. Drain holes 241a and 241b to discharge lubricating oil out of both housings 211 and 221 are provided between a shaft sealing device 230 provided on a shaft 223 of the compressor part 220 and the motor part 210. The drain holes 241a and 241b are provided to be tilted by a prescribed angleθon the side of the compressor part 220 diametrically outward to a normal direction of the shaft 223. A plurality of holes may be provided in a circumferential direction of the shaft 223 to be extended in the normal direction of the shaft 223.
