PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer which can effectively cool a thermal head without adhering dust and the like to the thermal head and realizes a high printing quality. SOLUTION: There are provided the thermal head 5 which has a plurality of heating elements 5a and selectively heats the plurality of heating elements 5a to enable printing to a recording paper, a head mounting stage 6 where the thermal head 5 is set and which has a penetrating hollow part 6a, and a fan for blowing the air into the hollow part 6a to cool the thermal head 5 via the head mounting stage 6. A plurality of projection-shaped parts 6c for receiving the blown air by the fan are formed to an inner wall 6b which forms the hollow part 6a of the head mounting stage 6.
