PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator control method during power failure, capable of setting a speed for rescue operation according to capacity of an emergency power source. SOLUTION: When the power failure occurs, an elevator control board CP1 outputs a power failure signal, capacity of emergency power source, and capacity of the elevator to a capacity detector A1. The capacities are compared in a capacity comparison device A2. A speed setting device A3 sets the rescue speed based on a comparison result. The speed setting device A3 outputs the rescue speed as a signal to the elevator control board CP1, so that the elevator performs the rescue operation at a maximum speed for rescue. The method enables sure and rapid rescue to thereby efficiently utilize the capacity of the emergency power source.
