PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent internal damage of a printer due to heating while suppressing lowering of performance without increasing the cost by calculating temperature rise in the printer on the host side at the time of printing narrow small size sheets, e.g. postcards or envelopes, continuously by means of a thermal fixing printer, e.g. a laser beam printer (LBP) and stopping print operation temporarily if a predetermined temperature may possibly be exceeded, turning off the power supply of the heater, requesting a larger size sheet to the user and outputting that sheet idly thereby cooling the interior of the printer. SOLUTION: A sensor function for measuring the reference value of temperature in the printer is provided on the printer side and an interface allowing bi-directional communication is provided between the host and the printer. |
