PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame retardant polyolefin resin composition and coatings for electric wires and cables, not containing halogens and therefore not generating poluting gas when combustion, excellent in mechanical properties such as extension characteristics and hardness and in extrudability. SOLUTION: The composition is prepared by adding 20-100 pts.wt. of a metal hydrate and 2-15 pts.wt. of a mixture of an organosiloxane high polymer and pulverized silica to 100 pts.wt. of a polyolefin resin, and is used as a material for coating electric wires and cables for their development into flame retardant wires and cables. |
