PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a basket-type barrel which can perform the surface treatment such as plating, and the water cleaning in a short time at a high speed, in which an article to be treated is easily charged and taken out and which can reduce the pumping frequency of the treatment solution, and to provide a surface treatment device using the basket-type barrel. SOLUTION: A bottom part of the basket-type barrel is made dish-shaped, a conductive electrode 4 and a current collector 6 are provided on an inner surface of an inclined part 3 of a circumferential edge of the bottom part of a barrel body 2 and on an outer circumference of an upper part of the barrel body 2, respectively. A plurality of conductive electrodes 4 and current collectors 6 are provided so as to divide the barrel body 2 at an equal angle, and the conductive electrodes 4 and the current collectors 6 are connected to each other to constitute the basket-type barrel 1. Unit treatment devices 10 and 28 having treatment tanks 12 and 30 which can rotatably store and tilt the barrel 1 are arranged side by side, and treatment solution spray nozzles 27 and 40 which are inserted in the barrel 1 and spray the treatment solution on the article to be treated in the barrel 1 when tilting the treatment tanks 12 and 30 are provided to constitute a surface treatment device.
