PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a palladium-containing catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas suppressed in sulfur poisoning and CO poisoning, further suppressed in the sintering of palladium and having high cleaning capacity. SOLUTION: The catalyst for cleaning the exhaust gas includes a zirconium compound oxide having palladium supported thereon. The zirconium compound oxide contains cerium preferably in an amount of 0.1-40 mol%, more preferably in an amount of 0.5-25 mol% and further preferably in an amount of 0.5-8.0 mol% on the basis of the total mol number of contained metal atoms. Preferably, the zirconium compound oxide further contains at least one kind of a metal (M) selected from rate earth metals other than cerium and a mol ratio of M/Ce is 0.1-3. The zirconium compound oxide contains 10-30 mol% of (Ce+M) on the basis of the total mol number of contained metal atoms. |
