摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently correct the addendum circle of a workpiece given beforehand with a gear shape, elliptical one for example, in the grinding work for the tooth surface of a gear. SOLUTION: The tooth surface of the workpiece is ground by rotating an external gear-shaped grinding wheel (or a workpiece) 3 in mesh with an internal gear-shaped workpiece (or a grinding wheel) 2 and driving one to move forward and backward against the other in the axial direction while keeping them turned together. When the addendum circle of the workpiece is elliptical and the teeth have non-uniform lengths, grinding work is done while a positional relationship between both of them is firmly fixed apart a preset distance (for example, 8μm) from a position of the contact of the tooth tip of the longest tooth of the workpiece with the tooth bottom of the grinding wheel. The tooth tip of the shortest tooth is thus precluded from being ground, resulting in all teeth being at uniform length in a short time.
